Eucharistic Adoration is a traditional Catholic devotion which, like many other traditional devotions, seemed to be forgotten after Vatican II. Eucharistic Adoration is now finding it's way back as a Catholic devotion thanks to the Holy Spirit and spiritual leaders like Pope John Paul II, Mother Theresa and Mother Angelica; just to mention a few.
Each of us can be instrumental in helping to promote this devotion. Currently, I am aware of two major Apostolates that assist parishes throughout the world in re-establishing this wonderful spiritual devotion. One of them specifically asked not to be mentioned on this home page but would not explain why. The other is identified below.
Fr. Martin Lucia is the spiritual director of this Apostolate. This
Apostolate works worldwide assisted by the laity and by priests who are
committed to re-establishing Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration and who
recognize that this Sacrament of Love is central to the life of God's
people. They currently provide information and assistance for starting
Perpetual Adoration in your parish.
They have need of your support to help promote this important work and they also have need for funding. Their newsletter, which is devoted to their Apostolate, and additional informational materials can be obtained by contacting:
(If you don't have the software to un-zip a file, you can downlaod PKUNZIP from PKWARE's Web Site.)
You should be sure to read the README.NOW file after all the files have been extracted so that you will be able to install them correctly.
NOTE: The DOS program had problems when printing in Windows 95 and Windows 98. Version 3.02(c) has been modified to fix the problems. If all you need is an update in the version of the program, and not the full installation, click here to download. Then copy the downloaded file into the directory that contains your software from the original installation.
The DOS program also has problems printing to a USB printer - but there is a workaround that usually works:
If you can share your printer using a share name of 8 characters or less, then you can tell the computer to equate the parallel port with the shared printer. Here is the general idea of how it is done.
You should be able to share the printer by going to control panel and then printers. Right click on the printer that you are going to share and go to the sharing tab. There you can give the printer a share name of 8 characters or less. After you have shared the printer, you need to go to DOS by using the command prompt (start>programs>accessories). At the command prompt, you need to type “net use \\computername\printername LPT1” (where computer name is the name of the computer that you shared the printer from and printername is the shared name of the printer). I believe you can get the name of your computer by going to control panel, clicking on system and then clicking on the computer name tab.
You may also have to go into your printer's Properties, and under the Ports tab, add checks to both the LPT1 port and "Enable printer pooling".
